Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is widely applied in clinical settings to support the treatment of numerous acute and chronic conditions. It is commonly used for cases such as cerebral infarction (stroke), myocardial infarction (heart attack), carbon monoxide poisoning, gas gangrene, and sudden sensorineural hearing loss.
By increasing the partial pressure and total content of oxygen in the blood, HBOT improves tissue oxygenation, enhances blood circulation, and supports red blood cell functionality. These effects are particularly beneficial for ischemic conditions and cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases. In addition, HBOT exhibits anti-inflammatory effects, reduces tissue edema, promotes angiogenesis and cell proliferation, accelerates wound healing, and has strong antimicrobial properties, especially against anaerobic bacteria.
